Hain Praises Star Young Athlete
A GCSE student from Ysgol Gyfun in Ystalyfera has been selected to represent Wales in this summers Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Hannah Brier has been chosen to join the Welsh squad and will hope to run in the 4×100 metre relay, competing against established international athletes from across the world.
The young Neath product was told of her selection after completing her Welsh GCSE, but she won’t be distracted from her commitment to studying and training for the event of a life-time.
Former Secretary of State for Wales Peter Hain said: “Over the past few weeks I have been learning with great interest of the accomplishments of Neaths only Olympic Gold Medal Winner Cecil Griffiths, I hope in Hannah we will soon have another medal winner who was born and bred in Neath.”
“Her accomplishment is a fantastic testament to the support of her family and school, I am eagerly looking forward to watching her compete with the rest of the Welsh team.”
