More Gloomy News For Neath Jobseekers
Despair continues for thousands in Neath says local MP Peter Hain after latest unemployment figures showed a rise for the third month. Overall unemployment in Neath rose to 1777 while youth unemployment rose to 595.
Commenting on the figures Mr Hain said, “This is the third consecutive month that unemployment has risen in Neath and worryingly there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel for the thousands searching for work with five people chasing every vacancy.
“Neath people continue to pay for the mistakes of the bankers and the Government’s failure to act decisively with a third of those affect between the age of 18 and 24. At a time like this what is needed is growth to stimulate the economy and get people back into work not the endless cuts which are failing as borrowing and debt remains sky high.”
